What is a Watchman?
Back in the biblical era one of the most valued commodities were grapes. Grapes were so highly valued that vineyards were often raided by thieves. So the owners of the vineyards would hire men to watch their vines day and night. They built high towers that looked down over the sloping hillsides where their grapes would grow. It was the responsibility of these men to protect and warn against intruders and thieves. If they fell asleep or failed to protect the land owner's crop they were brutally punished or sometimes even put to death. They became known as watchmen.
In Ezekiel 3:17, God uses the term watchman to give warnings.
"Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from Me"
In Isaiah 52:8 "Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices, together they shout for joy, for every eye will see when the LORD returns to Zion"
In the last days God will use those who have understandings of the times to teach many. These people are watchmen. It is the responsibility of those who can see the signs of the end of the age to warn others. If the watchman does not, then he will be held accountable to the Lord.
Why should you listen to the call of a Watchman?
A Watchman can see the signs spoken of by Jesus and the prophets. The gift of discernment has been given to the Watchmen by obtaining spiritual direction and understandings. There are those today who can not see the signs approaching and need to hear the warnings. If you listen to the Watchman's Call and connect with what he is saying to you regarding todays news, you will understand were we are on God's prophetic timeline. You will want to be ready for Christ's return. Jesus said, "Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee". (Rev. 3:3)
The belief that no man will know the day and hour of His return is misunderstood. It is true that no one can know the exact day and time of His return but we are to know, in fact we are commanded to look for His return through the signs He gave us. Man can tell the seasons by the changes in the weather and sun so why can't we know His coming through the changes He predicted? Even if He gave the day and hour, with 24 time zones around the globe, 23 would miss His arrival.
(1 Thessalonians 5:1-3) Speaks about the times, how He will come as a thief in the night to those who are not looking or are in darkness, but be of the light so when He returns you will not be caught sleeping. (Luke Chapter 21:25-28) Jesus tells of the signs when He will appear and says,"Lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh".
There are many watchman now, sounding the alarms, listen to those who are bible based, to those that can match up the scriptures with the current news of today. Check resources and links in the menu above.
